I'm constantly amazed at how many people remain unplugged and want nothing to do with social networking. The distance of time and miles vanish in the technological world. Why people resist that sort of positive change that is inevitable totally floors me.

Yet at the same time, if you're not careful, the social network world can imprison you. There is much to be said for powering down, walking away and getting out there in the real world. A healthy balance is the key.

And I like that perspective of the runner. It's true. The world becomes bigger, more periscopic when you're on foot.Joann Mannixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11163491824085428085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901742418169240469.post-76288456169247452082011-01-27T00:03:54.124-06:002011-01-27T00:03:54.124-06:00Oh, this was good! Perhaps I'll have to pick up this book. Probably only take me 3 years to read.Cheeseboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02358419997798632644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901742418169240469.post-76914780117697091772011-01-26T17:25:31.689-06:002011-01-26T17:25:31.689-06:00It's so interesting you write this today becau...It's so interesting you write this today because I spent the day with a client from Italy. We talked about how large and yet small the world is. It's all perspective. He thought our Lake Erie was as big as an ocean, and we think of his sea enormous but it's so much smaller in reality. He was travelling from Canada to Ohio to Dallas to Atlanta to Las Vegas all in four days! But he said it was so much better than his travel a month ago from Italy to Australia then to China..... CRAZY!Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00837072219744108076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901742418169240469.post-90356354266503459052011-01-26T17:09:59.601-06:002011-01-26T17:09:59.601-06:00Sorry to Hi-jack your post. SAD!) and pretend I came from afar on a covered wagon, just like my ancestors and used to just envision their very long, difficult journey. Very cool book, I may have to check that out!Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10174883718651790845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901742418169240469.post-89750397724192611202011-01-26T10:03:41.627-06:002011-01-26T10:03:41.627-06:00Am definitely going to read this book, sounds grea...Am definitely going to read this book, sounds great. It makes me think of a couple things that always amaze me. One is how overpopulated the world is yet driving through Illinois or Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc, we have so much open space. The other is how being able to run 5+ miles lets you go somewhere vs. being able to run 2 or less miles.Ransickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14084824367872613487noreply@blogger.com
