@SonyElectronics #FitnessWalkman winner
Congratulations to Brandon LePage, one of my twitter entrants, on winning my Sony Walkman giveaway! It'll soon be on its way to you...hope you enjoy your new MP3 player!
Thanks to everybody who entered...wish I could have given one to all of you!
In other news, I've been busily working on my race report from Carnage at the Creek (2), Team Virtus's fourth annual adventure non-race, and then I'll start on my ride report from the next day's awesome 50-mile gravel ride. Yet another candidate for best weekend ever.
Maybe I'll even finish both of those before heading back to Jefferson City for this weekend's Ava Brown 5K. Hard to believe my goal 5K is almost here. Much easier to believe that I began my race "taper" with an 8 hour adventure race followed by a long bike ride.
Even if I do blow it this weekend and not hit my goals (sub-25:00, which I know is plenty slow for many runners but would be a big PR for me), I wouldn't trade the fun I had this past weekend for the certainty of a PR. Actually training more or less faithfully and pushing myself has been pretty rewarding, so no matter what my time is this whole race will be a positive for me. And training has been good, so anything could happen. I'd say the goal is definitely within reach.
Now I just have to figure out how to warm up before a race. I've never actually done that before.

Pre-race with Kim, yet another person I met on the internet who has become a close friend. |
Gravel on a glorious day. |

What?? Not a 5-hour read post today? You are losing your touch, SK!
ReplyDeleteNah, your adventure last weekend won't hurt your upcoming race; it's going to help get your speedy legs all ready after spinning hard on the bike, now they know what to do. Working hard has nothing to do with it! :). All's good. Just gotta believe!
btw, you're looking damn good, girl. When are you heading out to Colorado so we can go eat some crap together after all this paleo crud? :)
xo
It's hard not to do what you want to get ready for a race. I love racing but racing can definitely interfere with biking. You go get that PR. It would mean a lot to me to hit that pace. I'll be plenty impressed.
ReplyDeleteYou had great weather for CAC2, dare I say almost too warm? Nah, beats winter hands down.
ReplyDeleteGood luck at your 5k! I think you have the 5k in the bag if the weather holds out and you don't start too fast. It's gonna hurt though. Some mental prep about what you are going to tell yourself when the pain sets in usually helps me. I usually look at my watch, calculate about how long I have left and tell myself I can run that hard for x minutes. Then I say I should be able to do just about anything for x minutes, then laugh :-). Oh, then I look at my watch again hoping I'm at least another minute closer to the finish.
Haven't been commenting much but I've been following your exploits on facebook - you've been busy!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this weekend - I'll be thinking speedy thoughts :)
can't wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait, for the CAC report, the ride report, and the 5k report in which you smash your goal!
ReplyDeleteSub 25!! Eek! Super fast! But you can do it! Good luck!
