At the track

I had intentions of riding to the high school track, running for 1/2 hour, and riding a 17-mile loop before dinner. Well, the road to the fat farm is paved with good intentions. Jeff got home a little later than I'd expected, I piddled a little getting out of the house...so what was going to be a 17-mile ride turned into a 2 mile (total) jaunt to and from the high school.

And still my legs felt like jelly when I started running. :( I'm not sure what I looked like, but here's how I felt:

I don't know if it's leftover from Tuesday's run or because of riding there. You wouldn't think a little flat mile on a bike would make running harder, so I'm chalking it up to "I probably could have used another day off before running again".

Anyway, I ran a mile, caught my breath, ran a mile, caught my breath, and then ran 4 400m laps, each with a break between them.

Mile 1: 1.11 miles in 8:45, which Cool Running's pace calculator calls a 7.53 mile.
***To which I say REALLY???? That's like breaking the sound barrier for me!

Mile 2: 1.01 miles in 10:10 ***Ahhh, yes, the Kate we all know and outrun!

400m repeats:

(1) 1:46

(2) 1:56

(3) 1:58 (Phoebe legs make reappearance)

(4) 1:52 *Funny thing: I FELT the slowest of all on this repeat. Go figure. Might be my lesson is to start off steady and not too fast, even on a 400m run.

And then I rode home. The End.

12 miles of running this week. Pretty good for me. I'm thinking that'll be it for the week, too. Running around in mud won't add up to many miles, but it'll take its toll on my legs.
