What you're looking for

Kristine at Wait in the Van just posted a funny blog about the search terms that people have used to come to her blog, whether intentionally or less intentionally. So, of course, that led me to look at my own. All in all, they're a little more prosaic than hers.

Mine are all pretty boring, which may reflect upon my blog. Hmmm. Perhaps I should start throwing random terms into my posts to attract more accidental traffic.

  • The top search term was "mud volleyball"...and then its variations: "Hannibal mud volleyball" and "Tuscola mud volleyball" (which would lead you to a post including pictures of skinny men in patriotic thongs. Well, at least one of them was in stars and stripes).
  • "Mud volleyball courts" was quickly followed by "mud volleyball courts in az". Sorry, not here.
  • "Capital city century"
  • "mom group Katy trail" (though I am not and have never been part of a mom group until "spending summer vacation with my kids makes me drink" incorporates in this area)
  • "what's on my mind"

Also notable were the misspelled search terms

  • tuscola mud voleyball
  • bile kity trail (not a place I would choose to visit, but if I did, I would likely blog about it)

Once you're looking at your search terms, the next thing you end up checking into is your audience. Who are these people? Or, the question Blogger will answer for you, where are they coming from? Well...

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Germany
  • Pakistan
  • United Kingdom
  • Denmark
  • Russia
  • Singapore
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand

Which is all kind of interesting. More page views from Pakistan than the UK. What led those readers here? What do the continents of South America, Africa, and Australia have against me? Thank you, Canada...I'll be spending my tourism dollars in you next time instead of Mexico. :)

  1. Clearly the Pakistanis are big fans of mud volleyball.

And, really, "Hannibal mud volleyball"? Sounds way, um, inappropriate.
