Me and my shadow

Riding bikes to the pool.
While his daddy was gone, it was pretty much just me and J, all day everyday.

Ice cream bribe

Yes, I missed most of the training I'd have liked to do, but in return I got some pretty precious time with my little boy.

Dyeing a shark shirt

He may be only 7, but he's a very different 7 than my older boys were.  They adored me; he doesn't.

Rainy day basketball
I think it comes from having teenage brothers...he kind of gets that teenage attitude.

Rollerblading on the bike path (one of the very few moments I wasn't playing human tow truck)
I was prepared for my teenagers to decide I didn't know anything for a few years...I was not prepared for a second grader who agreed with them.

Checking out the ducklings
Add to that the fact that he spends a lot of time with his dad while I'm training,

Trying to kick the branch from the swing
and that his dad loves to pick up bargains for him on a regular basis,

Lounging at the park
and that his dad is overall a lot more fun than I am, and you get yourself a full-on daddy's boy.

This week, though, he was all mine.

  1. He is adorable!!! :)

One of my twins is very close to me and the other to his dad (and it's opposite of who you'd think); so interesting to me what these kids absorb and spit out. I'm glad you two got some awesome quality time together - so worth the missed training!!! And Dipping Dots are AWESOME, he's a lucky boy! :)

  6. Well, he sounds like he is going to grow up to be quite the independent, free thinking, awesome kid. You're an incredible mom, even without the training.

  7. Hi Kate! Super fun spending time with your 7 year old! He is all boy for sure! Makes me want to have a full day with my 5 year old! Thinking it would be harder than going out on a long run! LOL! Love his smile....makes you wonder what he is thinking:)

  8. A beautiful post for a cute kid. I spent a lot of time with my children when they were kids (now son 31 and daughter 26).
    Great pictures.

  9. Very cool. Looks like you guys had fun. I've used the ice cream bribe many times. Just a hunch, but you are probably underestimating the adoration he has for you.
